Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police stated they were notified by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.

Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police say preliminary tests show the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the residents for tips.

An important official said the vandalism left him stunned and had to be addressed quickly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
